5 Minute ReadPackers vs. Vikings Prediction: Can Kyler Murray, Vikings Take Down Green Bay in Opening NFC North Showdown?
Green Bay visits U.S. Bank Stadium for a 4:25 PM ET kickoff on CBS. Minnesota is favored by 1.5 on the current board, with the total at 46.5.
The quarterback change creates the headline, but availability elsewhere may be just as important. Green Bay enters without Josh Jacobs and Micah Parsons, while Minnesota reached Week 1 without an injury designation for any player on its 53-man roster.
Packers vs. Vikings Recent Results
Green Bay finished 9-7-1 and saw its season end with a 31-27 Wild Card loss to Chicago. Love returns as the centerpiece of the offense, but the Packers begin 2026 without Jacobs and with questions along the offensive line.
Minnesota went 9-8 and missed the postseason despite closing the season strongly. Murray now takes over an offense featuring Jefferson, Addison, Jauan Jennings, T.J. Hockenson and a backfield built around Aaron Jones Sr. and Jordan Mason.

Packers vs. Vikings Line Movement and Betting Splits
This market has undergone a notable reversal from early lookahead pricing. Green Bay opened as a slight favorite in some spring markets, but Minnesota is now favored, with the board sitting at Vikings -1.5.
Green Bay has 59% of spread tickets but only 42% of the handle. Minnesota has only 41% of bets but 58% of the money. The same pattern appears on the moneyline, where the Vikings have 55% of handle despite only 46% of tickets.
Packers vs. Vikings Prediction
Murray's debut introduces uncertainty, but Minnesota has done a good job minimizing what he needs to solve on his own. Jefferson can dictate coverage, Addison stretches defenses horizontally and vertically, and Hockenson gives Murray a dependable middle-of-the-field option.
His mobility should also matter against a Green Bay defense missing Parsons. The Packers' pass rush was considerably more disruptive with Parsons available last season, so removing him reduces the likelihood that Minnesota spends the afternoon in obvious long-yardage situations.
Green Bay is also without Jacobs, taking away the offense's most proven way to punish Minnesota's aggressive fronts. Brian Flores has consistently ranked among the league's most blitz-heavy defensive play callers, and losing a veteran back affects both rushing efficiency and pass protection.
Love can absolutely punish that aggression. He was one of the league's most efficient quarterbacks against the blitz last season, so Minnesota cannot simply send extra rushers every snap and expect pressure to solve the matchup.
That is why the moneyline is more attractive than the spread. Green Bay has enough quarterback quality to keep this within one possession, and a one-point Minnesota win would lose at -1.5 while cashing the moneyline.
Minnesota's healthier roster, home field and stronger current backfield should ultimately matter in a close game. Murray does not have to outperform Love statistically if the Vikings can run efficiently and force Green Bay to become one-dimensional.
Packers vs. Vikings Best Bet
- Pick: Vikings ML (-130) Check out these best odds at DraftKings Sportsbook
Minnesota enters healthier, gets the game indoors at home and catches Green Bay without two major pieces in Jacobs and Parsons. Those absences affect exactly the areas Minnesota is built to attack.
Love makes laying points uncomfortable, so the moneyline provides the cleaner path. Minnesota only needs to survive what should be another tight NFC North matchup.
