ANALYSIS

Edmonton Oilers vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction: Trust the Oilers and Connor McDavid

Tonight we have a seeding game with St Louis visiting Edmonton. These teams will probably make the playoffs as they are in the 5 and 6 spots, but who doesn't want to get that home advantage for round 1? We have St Louis 1 point and Edmonton 3 points behind the Kings. This game is huge for both teams as they try to get into that four seed and get home ice for the opening round.

Edmonton Oilers vs. St. Louis Blues Prediction

St. Louis just won a home and home with Vancouver (big deal). Before those two wins, the Blues were singing the Blues as they were 1-5 the previous 6, and the reason they stunk so much was their defense as they gave up 26 goals in those six games, including a loss to the god awful Flyers giving up five goals. You don't just win a home and home and forget how bad you have been playing all month. They have gone over eight out of their last ten because of their lousy defense, and if there is one team you don't want to be playing bad defense against, it's the high-flying Oilers, who are top ten in pretty much every offensive category. With St. Louis giving up four goals a game recently, we expect that streak to continue because the Oilers have a lot to play for, as do their players. We also have heard that the Blues leading scorer Jordan Kyrou will probably not play with his 62 points, which will hurt this team tremendously tonight.

Those players we speak about for the Oilers are Leon Draisaitl, as he is trying to do what Austin Matthews did for us yesterday and get his 50th goal and a win, and we have Mcdavid, who already has 100 points trying to win the scoring title. But, the Oilers are playing like they were expected to play and have now won eight games in a row at home after the shootout win over the Kings. If they win tonight, it will tie them for the most wins in a row at home in franchise history, so it's a critical game for them from the franchise history perspective as well.

This team is also not known for its defense, as they have gone over five in a row and 8 out of 9. But this offense is on fire, and a team like the Blues playing bad defense can't stop them with 4, 6, 5, 5, 3, 2, 6, 6, 7, 4 in their last 10. They are averaging almost five goals a game and, for the season, nearly 3.5 goals, so we fully expect that to continue tonight.

With a chance to tie the most wins at home in a row for the franchise, with them being so hot at home and trying to catch the Kings, with the best 1-2 punch in the NHL, and with the Blues injuries, there is only one way to go tonight in this shootout.

We will lay the -145 at MGM right now and take the Oilers to win that franchise tying home win tonight and for Draisaitl to get that 50th goal tonight. Oilers to keep the streak alive for them and for us. Let's get another Canadian hockey winner tonight as we break out the Gretzky jerseys for this one.
