Who next for Anthony Joshua?

Who next for Anthony Joshua?

The British superstar has fighters queuing up for their shot at his titles.

After Saturday night’s impressive win over Wladimir Klitschko, in front of a packed out Wembley Stadium; Anthony Joshua has become the most desirable opponent in World Heavyweight Boxing and other big names from the division are doing their best to get his attention. Promoter Eddie Hearn has confirmed, “October, November, is probably the kind of date you will see Anthony Joshua back in the ring." But the big question is: who will he share the ring with?

Tyson Fury has been very vocal about wanting an all-British showdown, with a series of pictures and videos being uploaded to social media and the public seem to want this one too. Fury has already been Klitschko to become World Champion but was later stripped of his belts. However, Anthony Joshua owes nothing to Fury and may make him wait for his chance.

Joshua may want to get his hands on more belts and has the opportunity to do so. WBC and WBO World Champions - Deontay Wilder and Joseph Parker – have also expressed interest in the fight. Both boast unbeaten records and both would prove a tough test that would differ greatly from the one he faced against Klitschko. Rumours of a Joshua fight in the US being imminent, would suggest the Wilder fight is the more likely of the two.

In terms of mandatory fights, both Kubrat Pulev and Luis Ortiz are entitled to challenge for belts that AJ holds. Whilst these fights may be seen as the less appealing to the majority of boxing fans, it may be something that has be done to appease the powers that be.

So five heavyweight fighters are waiting in the wings and Eddie Hearn is rubbing his hands together but who will get the nod? We’d love to see the big Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder showdown but fear the mandatory challenger situations may have to be dealt with, before we get what we want.
