Mayweather's odds hit new high as support for McGregor continues

Whilst he is still the big favourite, Mayweather's odds continue to drift as the fight draws ever closer.

This weekend the two fighters will step into the ring in Vegas for their mega-money fight and whilst many class the fight as a total mismatch, it is somewhat surprising to see that the MMA specialist is the one receiving all the support in regards to the betting.

Floyd Mayweather has hit odds of 3/10 for the first time, a long way off the 1/25 he was originally priced up at when the fight was first announced. In contrast, Conor McGregor was originally installed as the 7/1 outsider but is now as short as 13/5 with one bookmaker, whilst 7/2 is the best price you will find.

The Irishman has seen consistent support in the market whatever price he has been. Even though over the past seven days his odds have been at their shortest, 51.6% of all bets on the bout have been on a Conor McGregor victory, whilst Floyd Mayweather has accounted for 36.8% (the remaining 11.6% of bets placed on the draw).

It is feasible Mayweather backers may just be biding their time to see how big the American's odds will get before they pounce. Whether punters continue to believe in the hype surrounding McGregor as the fight gets closer will be interesting to see.
