David Haye has been priced as the odds on favourite for his soon-to-be confirmed rematch with Tony Bellew.
After several hours of speculation and media frenzy yesterday, David Haye has been priced as the odds on favourite for his soon-to-be confirmed rematch with Tony Bellew. Haye is as low as 1/4 with some bookmakers for the fight, set to take place on December 16th.
The best odds for Haye are still very low at 4/11, while Bellew’s best price as the underdog is 11/4.
Haye lost the previous meeting between the two in March after suffering an achilles injury; Bellew has relished the rematch and has even gone as far to say as the fight will be over in ten minutes, the comments echoing some of the bad blood present in their press conferences earlier this year.
Punters seem convinced that Haye’s loss was an anomaly and aren’t convinced with Bellew’s early fighting talk, with 70% of bets so far placed on Haye to win. While it is too early to come to assumptions, and the round by round betting hasn’t been announced yet, the signs look ominous for Bellew according to the market.
Says Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: “Many thought that David Haye's defeat to Tony Bellew would be the end of his boxing career, but the odds suggest that he will likely get revenge when they return to the ring later in the year. The 36-year old suffered an achilles injury in March's fight, and punters think that he is likely to emerge victorious in this well anticipated rematch.”
