The England captain is now as short as 4/1 to be the World Cup top scorer.
England striker Harry Kane is being backed to bring the Golden Boot home, with bookies making him a slight second favourite to Cristiano Ronaldo.
Before a ball was kicked tonight, Kane was the fourth favourite to be top scorer at the 2018 World Cup, with bookies pricing him up as a 16/1 shot.
Following his brace in the Three Lion’s first game, bookies have cut his odds to as short as 4/1, and savvy punters have been quick to lump on him.
He’s attracted 94% of bets for the individual honour since the goal, ahead of red hot favourites Cristiano Ronaldo and Diego Costa.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “Kane’s last gasp winner has seen him shoot into contention for the World Cup Golden Boot.
“His odds for the prestigious award have been obliterated from a bookies point of view, being slashed from 16/1 into just 4/1 – which will be music to England fans’ ears.”
