Canelo Alvarez is the 2/5 favourite to beat Christian Mbilli for the WBC super-middleweight title in Riyadh on Saturday.
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez returns this Saturday for the first time since losing his undisputed super-middleweight crown to Terence Crawford. Crawford has since retired, and the WBC title he vacated now belongs to Christian Mbilli, the unbeaten French-Cameroonian who defends it against Canelo in Riyadh.
This is a big test of what Canelo has left at 36, after elbow surgery and more than a year out of the ring. Mbilli, 31, is 29-0-1 with 24 knockouts and comes forward relentlessly, but this is his first defence as full champion and by far the biggest night of his career. The bookmakers still make the four-weight world champion a strong favourite.

Who's Favourite to Win Canelo vs Mbilli?
Canelo is the 2/5 favourite, which gives him an implied chance of around 71%. Most bookmakers have him at 4/11. Mbilli's best price is 5/2, about 29%, and the draw is 18/1.
Oddschecker's bet history shows a steady market today, with only small moves at a handful of firms. William Hill cut Canelo to 4/11 at lunchtime, and Spreadex and Sporting Index both trimmed him to 1/3 in the afternoon.
The favouritism rests on class and experience. Canelo has fought at the top level for more than a decade, and Mbilli has never been past ten rounds against an elite opponent. In his last fight in September 2025 he was held to a split draw by Lester Martinez, which raised questions about how he handles sustained pressure in return.

A Canelo points win at 5/6 is the most likely outcome, at about 55%. That fits his recent record: he hasn't stopped an opponent since Caleb Plant in 2021. The fight is 1/3 to go the full 12 rounds, about 75%, and 5/2 not to. Mbilli's best route is by knockout at 9/1, about 10%, in a fight he needs to turn into a brawl.
Canelo vs Mbilli Prediction
Terence Crawford, the last man to beat Canelo, has picked him to win. He said Mbilli's forward-moving style suits Canelo's counter-punching, and that the champion's best hope is to make it a dogfight. Most pundits agree, although Bob Arum has called it the end of the road for Canelo.
The market leans towards a Canelo win on points, and so does the evidence. Mbilli's power and work rate make it dangerous early on, but Canelo's defence and body punching should keep him in control over 12 rounds. Canelo by decision at 5/6 is the natural reading of the market.
