The hosts couldn’t pull off a record run chase as Pakistan broke their long ODI losing streak.
Pakistan stunned England to win by 14 runs at Trent Bridge just days after being bowled out for a humiliating 105 by the West Indies in the Cricket World Cup.
They were priced at 10/3 to win the match this morning, while England were as short as 1/5.
They’ve since been cut from 40/1 outsiders into as short as 12/1 to win the tournament, putting them comfortably ahead of South Africa, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan in the outright market.
Meanwhile, England remain favourites to win the tournament, but have drifted to a best price of 2/1.
Pakistan had lost their last 11 matches before defeating the tournament favourites today, including the demolition at the Nottinghamshire ground on Friday and a 4-0 series loss to England.
Setting a total of 348 with the bat, Mohammad Hafeez scoring 84 off 62, Pakistan made England pay for some poor fielding.
Despite centuries from captain Joe Root and star batsman Jos Buttler, England were unable to fight back as Wahab Riaz cleaned up the late challengers.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “It’s still far too early in this World Cup to be making any big calls on the final result, but today’s game certainly showed some weaknesses in this imperious England side.
"Pakistan weren’t the side anyone expected to see off the hosts after Friday, but they showed they can beat anyone on their day."
