England cut from 50/1 into 11/8 to regain the Ashes

Joe Root’s side were a mammoth price on Sunday after Stuart Broad’s dismissal

England have been cut from 50/1 into 11/8 to regain the Ashes, following their sensational win over Australia on Sunday.

When Broad was struck with a toe-crushing yorker to leave the Aussies requiring just one more wicket to take home Ashes, England were pushed out to a whopping 50/1.

That was consequently cut into 11/8 for Joe Root’s side to topple Australia in the remaining two test matches, making them clear favourites in the series.

The draw is the next most likely outcome for the engrossing series at 2/1, which would result in Australia retaining the urn.

For the visitors to win the series outright, it’s 5/2, after being as short as 1/5 on Sunday during the third test match.

Punters are also backing England for glory, with 64% of all bets in the last 24 hours being placed on the Three Lions.

Elsewhere, Steve Smith is still favourite to come out as the top batsman of the series, at 1/4, although Ben Stokes is the market mover.

He’s been cut from 33/1 into as short as 4/1 to score the most runs from both sides, making him second-favourite at the majority of British bookies.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: "After being bundled out for a humiliating 67 in their first innings, Ben Stokes dragged England kicking and screaming to the finish line on that baking Sunday at Headingley - completing their biggest Test run chase in history.

"The Australians will know victory at Old Trafford or The Oval will still see the urn return Down Under, but can they stop England's red-hot momentum?"
