Frank Lampard could be back playing in the Premier League after announcing he is to leave the MLS and will reveal "the next stage" of his career "very soon".
Fans may have been expecting him to announce a move into coaching or to follow in the footsteps of his cousin, Jamie Redknapp, as a TV pundit. But it appears the former England midfielder could be back playing Premier League football, this time with Crystal Palace.
The bookies have slashed the odds on Lampard to join The Eagles to as short as 6/4 with SkyBet after Piers Morgan tweeted a photograph of himself alongside Lampard, Alan Pardew and Palace chairman Steve Parish in New York.
The image has sparked rumours suggesting Palace could offer the Chelsea legend a short-term deal at Selhurst Park.
Rangers have also been linked, priced at 6/1 with BetVictor, while he is considered a 7/1 shot with Paddy Power to try out the A League with Melbourne City.
A move down under may not be entirely out of the question with the A League club being owned by City Football Club, who also own New York City and Manchester City.
