Alan Pardew sacked as Eagles manager

Alan Pardew has been sacked following a huge surge in the next Premier League manager to leave market.

After looking like he had got away with the threat of being sacked, Alan Pardew has finally lost his job as Crystal Palace manager.

The Eagles boss was previously the favourite to go before a home win against Southampton at the beginning of December seemed to have saved him, as the pressure moved to Swansea's Bob Bradley.

Pardew has been an unpopular figure among the fans at Selhurst Park but was well supported by Palace chairman Steve Parish throughout the last few months. However Parish seems to have lost patience with the former Palace player and decided to act.

Following their 3-0 win against Southampton, Palace went on to lose at home to Chelsea and Manchester United after drawing away at Hull.

Palace's next game against Watford was billed as a must win for Pardew but Palace have decided to terminate the 55-year-old's contract in a bid to turn around their season.

He was priced at 21/10 at the start of the week to be the next manager to leave the Premier League but has been so heavily backed over the last two days that the odds shortened to 4/6.

The market has been fluctuating between Bradley and Pardew being the favourite for the last six weeks with punters seeming split on who to go for.

The signs of Pardew being sacked have been there for a while for punters though. After a winless run throughout October, Palace then lost away at newly promoted Burnley on November 5th where shrewd punters could have got 7/2 with SkyBet on him to be the next to go.

With rumours of Pardew's job being on the line, various managers have been linked with a move to SE25 with former England manager Sam Allardyce considered a preferred candidate to take over.
