After much speculation Swansea City have confirmed the appointment of Paul Clement as their new manager.
Paul Clement has been unveiled as Swansea's third manager of the season and is expected to be at Selhurst Park for the game against Crystal Palace tonight.
The former Derby boss has been the assistant manager at Bayern Munich this season. The German club gave the Swans permission to talk to Clement on Monday, where a deal was agreed later that day before he was officially confirmed today.
Clement became the front runner for the job towards the end of December, where he had shortened from 25/1 to 9/4 in a matter of hours. The 44-year-old, who has previously worked in the top leagues in Europe alongside Ancelotti at Chelsea, Real Madrid and PSG, will now go it alone in the Premier League.
He first took the step into management with Derby but was sacked after eight months in charge with the Rams in fifth place in the Championship. Tasked with keeping Swansea in the Premier League, Clement faces a tough proposition with the Welsh club bottom of the league and winless in four games. They are currently 11/4 to stay up with Paddy Power and 4/11, best price, to be relegated with William Hill and Betfred.
Swansea's last win came against relegation threatened Sunderland and Clement will be hoping for an immediate impact for tonight's game against the Eagles. Failure to beat 17th placed Palace, who recently appointed Sam Allardyce in a bid to avoid the drop themselves, would mean Swansea will be seven points adrift of safety.
The appointment of someone like Clement certainly seems a long term plan for Swansea but with Alan Curtis saying the club may struggle to bounce-back if relegated, there is no doubt the pressure will be on for Clement.
