The German’s contract expires next summer and he has announced that he won’t commit his future to Arsenal until he knows what Arsene Wenger is doing.
Much has been made of the situation surrounding both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s contracts at Arsenal. The former announced on Sunday that he would like to sign a new contract with the club, but won’t commit until he knows whether Arsene Wenger will be at the Emirates next season. But if the German does opt for a fresh challenge, where is he likely to end up?
The bookmakers have installed Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd as favourites to land Ozil at 2/1, with a move back to Germany and Bayern Munich at 5/1, alongside both Juventus and PSG. It has also been reported that the creative midfielder is keen to get his hands on Jack Wilshere’s no10 shirt.
Since his £42.5m move from Real Madrid in 2013, Ozil has contributed 27 goals and 40 assists in 126 appearances in an Arsenal shirt, proving a vital part of Arsene Wenger’s armoury. Time will tell whether the pair commit their futures to the club.
