Sam Allardyce this morning said that despite interest from West Brom and West Ham Benteke will not be leaving the club.
During Sam Allardyce's pre-match press conference for Crystal Palace's weekend clash with West Ham, he was questioned about the future of striker Christian Benteke.
Since joining the South London club from Liverpool for £32 million in the summer, Benteke has not hit the heights that were expected of him and there has naturally been speculation about his future under new manager, Allardyce. He has only scored eight league goals this season despite being the club's main striker.
The two Premier League clubs said to be interested in Allardyce's services are West Brom, in a possible swap deal with Berahino, and West Ham, who are badly in need of a goalscorer. There's also been some talk of Benteke joining the growing number of European based players making the move to China.
Allardyce, however had this to say:
"Unless the chairman knows any different from me, Christian Benteke is not for sale.
"Never say never but at the moment he is a Crystal Palace player. I am planning on him being here at the end of the window. He has a major part to play."
Following that, it now looks extremely likely Benteke will stay at Selhurst Park at odds of 1/6. West Brom are the most likely club to sign him before the window closes at 6/1, while a move to a Chinese club is 8/1 and a more unlikely transfer to West Ham at 20/1.
