Payet refusing to play for West Ham

Bilic confirmed in his press conference this morning that Dimitri Payet no longer wants to play for the club.

During Slaven Bilic's press conference this morning he was questioned on the future of star player, Dimitri Payet.

He has insisted that West Ham will not be selling the player though, with a long contract in place and money seemingly not an issue.

"We have said we don't want to sell our best players but Dimitri Payet does not want to play for us. We are not going to sell him," Bilic said.

"I spoke to the Chairman and this is not a money issue. We gave him a long contract because we want him to stay."

How long West Ham can keep that stance in the face of an unhappy player is up for debate though and we could still see him leave in January. This season has not hit the heights of the last one, both for Payet and the team in general.

This season he has only scored two Premier League goals and only has six assists to his name in 18 appearances, compared to last season when he scored nine Premier League goals with 12 assists. West Ham themselves sit in 13th place and have struggled for form this season, which may go someway to explaining why Payet has taken the stance he has in his search for Champions League football.

Marseille is still his most likely destination at 5/2, were he to leave in this window. Chelsea and PSG remain interested parties at 10/1 and Man United could also join the race for his signature at 14/1. One thing is for sure though, West Ham have a battle on their hands if they want to hold onto one of the most coveted players in Europe.
