Pep Guardiola has shortened to 16/1 from 33/1 to be the next manager to leave following Man City's 4-0 defeat to Everton.
At the start of the season the thought of Manchester City being ten points adrift of the top of the Premier League before the end of January seemed unthinkable.
But following their 4-0 thrashing to Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, Manchester City already look out of the title race. A defeated Guardiola could only watch on from the sidelines as his City stars failed to take control of the game with Everton youngster Tom Davies stealing the show.
The defeat, which was Guardiola's heaviest loss in league football as a manager, prompted punters to take a gamble on him to be the next manager to leave the Premier League. The odds have shortened with a number of bookies. Most noticeably he has come in to 25/1 from 80/1 with StanJames while BetVictor have him as short as 16/1, after starting the day at 33/1.
The shortening in price is perhaps more a reflection of optimistic punters taking advantage of the big prices of 80/1, 50/1, and 33/1 available. But there is no doubt Guardiola is finding life in the Premier League challenging and his manner in post-match interviews may suggest he may be feeling the pressure.
Where that pressure is coming from is hard to say. But it is probably more likely to come from himself, and his demand for success, rather than those on the board at Manchester City.
City are now fifth in the league and after starting the season at evens to win the title they have drifted out to 16/1 to win it.
Success this season looks more likely to come in the FA Cup for City and following their 5-0 win over West Ham, where the Spaniard looked in far better spirits, are now second favourites at 11/2 to win.
