One bookmaker has already paid out to customers who backed Chelsea to win the Premier League after they beat Arsenal.
Following Chelsea's emphatic 3-1 win over Arsenal, which saw them go 12 points clear at the top of the table, BoyleSports has decided to pay out to its customers who were on Chelsea to win the league.
Despite there still being 14 games till the end of the season, the bookie is willing to reward their customers already.
The payout has cost the Irish bookie 'a large six figure sum' and they will now be hoping The Blues can continue their dominating form and claim the title.
Chelsea's gap at the top was cut back to nine points by Saturday night when Tottenham beat Middlesbrough in the 5.30pm kick-off. But clearly this bookmaker thinks that is still too strong an advantage for Spurs to challenge.
Paying out early on the Premier League winner is nothing new for bookmakers and in the past it has come back to haunt some of them.
In 1998 Betfred paid out on Manchester United winning the league when they were 12 points clear. But Arsenal had three games in hand and managed to snatch the title from United, causing the bookie to make a £500,000 loss.
Betfred paid out early once again on United winning the league before Sergio Aguero's famous winner won the title for Manchester City in 2012. They did the same the following year but this time United managed to hold on to win their 13th Premier League crown.
