Tyrone Mings given five-match ban by the FA

Mings has been handed the suspension despite his appeal against the violent conduct charge given on Monday.

Tyrone Mings has this afternoon been handed a five-match ban for his alleged deliberate stamp on Zlatan Ibrahimovic's head in Bournemouth's match against Man United on Saturday lunchtime.

The suspension will be active with immediate effect, following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing today. The incident between Mings and Ibrahimovic was not seen by the match officials at the time but was caught on video, leading to his suspension.

The FA had claimed, in the aftermath of the incident, that the standard punishment of three matches which is the standard amount for violent conduct would be 'clearly insufficient'. However, Mings himself denied the charge against him and the claim by the FA, with him saying after the match that he would "never" intentionally stamp on anyone.

Ultimately though, the Commission has sided with the FA in their view of the incident, adding a two-match suspension to the standard sanction.
