It's been confirmed this morning that Mane will have surgery on his knee and could miss the rest of Liverpool's season.
Sadio Mane is to have surgery on the knee he injured in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Everton on Saturday, it has been confirmed today.
It has been public knowledge that the 24 year old would miss Liverpool's next game, against Bournemouth at Anfield tonight but the severity of the injury has not been clear until now, following further scans on the swollen area.
Liverpool are already without Lallana and Henderson due to injury and will force Jurgen Klopp into shuffling his pack once again to cover for the club's leading goalscorer this season, with 13 goals.
The choice for Mane's replacment appears to be between the returning Sturridge and Divock Origi, who looks most likely to start, with Klopp saying yesterday:
"Sturridge is back in training and is a good option. Probably he can be in the squad."
Liverpool are currently in third, five points ahead of fifth-placed Man United having played a game more and are 1/4 to finish in the top four. Their fixtures look promising in the run in to the end of the season but how well the team cope without three of their best players will go some way to deciding if they achieve that top four place and a Champions League spot next season.
