Man Utd to face Ajax in Europa League final

Both sides had to withstand late assaults from their opponents and are now just one step from glory.

Man Utd and Ajax both reached the Europa League final after both winning their ties on aggregate by just one goal against Celta Vigo and Lyon respectively.

Marouane Fellaini gave the Red Devils an early two-goal cushion with a close range header after good work by Marcus Rashford cutting in from the left flank. A late goal from Celta Vigo followed by a red card for each team set up a nervy ending where Celta could have snatched it with the last kick of the game with a glorious chance but ex-Man City striker John Guidetti fluffed his lines...

Lyon were trailing by three goals after the first leg and battled hard in France and roared back from an early setback, Alexandre Lacazette scoring twice before half time and then a goal from Rachid Gezzall set up another grandstand finish, during which Ajax's Nick Viergiver was sent off after a second yellow. Lyon however just could not find a fourth goal to force extra time.

The final will be contested by the two sides in Stockholm on Wednesday 24th May in front of 48,000. Man Utd are 1/2 to lift the trophy whilst Ajax are the 7/4 outsiders.
