Sunday shuffle in the markets as Nigel Pearson has gone from 20/1 on Saturday to 2/1 to be the next Sunderland manager.
The dramatic movement in the odds over the weekend on the next Sunderland manager market suggests Nigel Pearson could well take over at the Stadium of Light.
Pearson, whose last job was managering Derby County before he left in October 2016, is believed to be keen to get back into management for next season and admitted the vacancy at Middlesbrough was originally one he would be interested in.
But, with Garry Monk poised to be unveiled as Boro boss on Monday according to media reports from Yorkshire, there has been a surge in the market for Pearson to join Sunderland which has seen the 53-year-old go to as short as 2/1. Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes remains the favourite, however, but has drifted to 13/8 with William Hill.
With interviews expected to start this week for David Moyes' successor, SImon Grayson has also emerged as a contender and is 2/1 with William Hill but can be found as big as 10/1 with BetVictor.
Sunderland fans may not be too excited at the thought of Pearson managing their side but he has some huge admirers and with experience of Premier League promotion he could be just the man Sunderland are after for a swift return to the top flight.
