Manuel Pellegrini set to join Crystal Palace?

Bookmakers have cut the odds on the former Man City manager making a return to the Premier League.

Plenty of names have been linked with the top job at Selhurst Park since the surprise departure of former England manager Sam Allardyce at the end of the season, with a number of high-profile names taking turns to be the bookies’ favourite.

Garry Monk, Frank De Boer, Roy Hodgson and Sean Dyche have all been short-priced favourites at one point in the last month, but now there’s a new name in contention. Eagles fans can be forgiven for getting their managers mixed up when Mauricio Pellegrino was linked with the job, with many believing/wanting it to be the former Manchester City manager, Manuel Pellegrini instead. Now it appears many have got their wish after rumours the Premier League winner was interviewed for the role this week, with the former Man City and Real Madrid manager now as short as 15/8 to take the reigns.

Pellegrini’s time in charge at City followed spells at the helm of such clubs like River Plate, Villarreal and Malaga and is still fondly remembered by fans of all of his former employers. During his time in Manchester he won the Premier League on one occasion and the League Cup twice.

Palace being linked with the former man known as the ‘Engineer’ has been welcomed by the majority of Palace fans on social media, and also with the punters. In the last few hours the Chilean has accounted for 31% of bets placed on the market, 5% more than any other candidate. Oddschecker have also received significant-sized bets for him to be the Crystal Palace manager from the London area.
