Having asked to leave Leverkusen, Javier Hernandez could be in line for a second spell at Old Trafford
Javier Hernandez scored 59 competitive goals for Man Utd but the prolific striker was sold to Bayer Leverkusen by Louis van Gaal back in 2015, following a loan spell at Real Madrid. Hernandez made a name for himself as a poacher coming off the bench and his Old Trafford exit came as a surprise to many fans. Jose Mourinho was quick to criticise van Gaal for selling the Mexican, and said: “I would never have sold Chicharito…Never, no chance!”
What’s more, Hernandez hinted at a return to the club back in March by favouriting a tweet calling for his return to the club. The striker scored 39 goals in 76 in all competitions for Leverkusen, but has called time on his stint at the club after two seasons. So who will sign Hernandez? Given Mourinho’s admiration for the player and the striker’s love for the club, the best price 16/1 on offer looks huge. Juventus are the favourites to sign him at 3/1, Ligue 1-sides Lyon and Marseille are 7/2 and 9/2 respectively, whilst Tottenham are 16/1.
Aside from Chicharito, Man Utd are reportedly interested in Ivan Perisic (3/10), Alvaro Morata (1/3), Kieran Tierney (evens), Romelu Lukaku (5/2), James Rodriguez (9/4), Hugo Lloris (3/1), Dries Mertens (3/1), Radja Nainggolan (3/1), Blaise Matuidi (4/1), Jan Oblak (4/1), Kasper Schmeichel (9/2), Danny Rose (9/2) and Kevin Gameiro (6/1).
