The Terriers have recently welcomed a whole host of new players to help their chances of survival.
Newly promoted Huddersfield have splashed the cash following their arrival on the biggest stage, but despite out-spending 13 of the 19 other teams in the league, both bookmakers and punters alike feel it won’t be enough to keep them in the top flight.
The Yorkshire based club have recently welcomed a whole host of new players to the Kirklees Stadium with the likes of Steve Mounie, Aaron Mooy, Tom Ince and Laurent Depoitre all arriving for six-figure fees or more. Although owner Dean Hoyle has sanctioned such spending, the Terriers remain 4/5 favourites to drop straight back to the Championship.
Huddersfield are currently the seventh biggest Premier League spenders yet punters believe they might need to keep spending to have any chance of staying in the top division. Using the bets placed on various markets on Oddschecker, including markets such Winner, Relegation, Top four, Top half finish, Bottom half finish and more, it’s predicated (based on bets placed) they’ll finish at the foot of the table.
The play-off winners have received 39.9% of bets in the To finish bottom of the Premier League market and things look ominous for the Yorkshire club who are a massive 3000/1 to be crowned Premier League champions. Although those lofty odds haven’t stopped a number of Huddersfield fans lumping on at fancy prices with Oddschecker seeing a flurry of small bets on the Terriers emulating the Foxes and winning the title following their Wembley play-off success in May.
The hefty transfer outlay means they have comfortably outspent their fellow promoted teams, yet bookies still think they are the most likely to struggle, pricing them up as 5/1 outsiders to fare best of the Premier league new boys.
On the recruitment front, there is still plenty to keep fans interested with the rumour mill linking them with a number of new recruits:
Chris Wood 6/1
Jack Wilshere 18/1
Patrick Roberts 12/1
Stewart Downing 22/1
Peter Crouch 25/1
Jota 25/1
Gareth Barry 33/1.
