Liverpool fans will have become increasingly worried at the number of transfer rumours that are not materialising this summer. Since the signings of Salah, Robertson and Solanke (free), The Reds have struggled to attract any other big names, which will be essential if they are to compete at the top of the Premier League next term. However, it looks like the long wait could be over and Virgil Van Dijk may just be on his way to Anfield.
As news surfaced that the centre-back had been left out the Southampton squad, who travel to France for a training camp today; Oddschecker users reacted and we saw an influx of bets backing the big man to become a Liverpool player during this transfer window. Despite being best odds of just 2/5, 60% of all bets in the market have been in favour of a move to Liverpool. Interestingly just 10% have backed him to stay at The Saints (10/3) and the same amount have even taken a gamble on him moving to Barcelona (10/1).
Whilst Southampton remain adamant they do not want to sell the player, the player has reportedly made his desire to leave known to the manager. Other reports state Liverpool are willing to smash their current transfer record, with some even suggesting they will pay upto £60m - all making it harder to see a future for the player at Southampton.
