Teenage midfielder only joined Bayern Munich from Benfica 12 months ago for €35million
AC Milan look set to continue their extraordinary summer of spending with the capture of Bayern Munich’s teenage midfielder Renato Sanches. The 19-year-old only joined the German giants 12 months ago but struggled for game time in his first season in Bavaria and looks set for a second big-money move.
Reports in the Italian and German press suggest a deal has been agreed and bookmakers cut the odds of a move from 11/10 to 1/4 on Thursday. The Serie A club have already spent in excess of £175m rebuilding a squad that has severely underachieved in recent seasons.
The capture of Sanches would add to deals already completed for Juventus and Italy centre back Leonardo Bonnuci (£35m), Porto striker Andre Silva (£32m) and Atlanta right back Andrea Conti (£21m).
Sanches has also been linked with Manchester United during the summer and had been as short as 5/2 to make the move to Old Trafford. However, following today’s rumours they have again drifted back out to 9/2.
