Antonio Conte looks set to strengthen an already star-studded attacking line-up by signing Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.
The signing of the Englishman would help Chelsea in their bid to increase their quota of home grown players following the departures of John Terry, Asmir Begovic and Nathaniel Chalobah who all filled the slots last year.
Barkley has refused to sign a new contract at Everton and Toffees manager Ronald Koeman said earlier this week the boyhood blue would 100% be leaving the club this summer. In the last twenty-four hours 59% of bets placed on Barkley’s next club have been on him joining Conte at Stamford Bridge. The volume of bets has led to the odds on Barkley joining Chelsea being cut from 12/1 to as short as 4/1 today.
Tottenham are still favourites to sign the tricky playmaker, but given the Blues need to sign English talent, Chelsea could be a likely destination, and we don't expect 8/1 (best odds) to be available much longer.
