The four homegrown players Chelsea are targeting this summer

We look at which British players Chelsea are most likely to sign according to the bookies

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte insists he still needs at least three more additions to his squad before the close of the transfer window and with the club losing the likes of John Terry, Asmir Begovic and Nathaniel Chalobah there is a focus on recruiting more homegrown talent to meet Premier League regulations.

With this in mind we’ve taken a look at the  four  players with the shortest odds to join Chelsea before the end of window

Danny Drinkwater – 7/4

The Leicester and England midfielder played an integral part in Leciester’s title success in 2015/16 before enduring a mixed time of things last season as the Foxes struggled to match the standards set during the previous season. With his injury niggles now behind him, he could prove and able deputy to big-money signing Tiemoue Bakayoko and would relish renewing his championship-winning midfield partnership with N’Golo Kante.

Ross Barkley – 6/1

London rivals Tottenham remain favourites to sign the Everton midfielder, but Chelsea’s odds have steadily decreased over the last few days having been as large as 14/1 under a week ago. The England midfielder has just 12 months left on his contract and the player’s reported wage demands shouldn’t be a problem for the Champions with the fee looking the most likely stumbling block for any future deal.

Ryan Bertrand - 13/8

The left-back has developed into one of the best in the Premier League since his move away from the Bridge back in 2015. Chelsea aren’t averse to re-signing former players, Nemajna Matic, David Luiz as well as being strongly linked with Romelu Lukaku, so a move back to the club where the 27-year-old began his career is not beyond the realms of possibility. Add to that Juventus’ reluctance to do a deal for Chelsea’s prime target Alex Sandro and the odds movement from 16/1 into 13/8 over the last few days start to make sense.

Kieran Tierney – 10/1

The Celtic full-back has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford after a breakthrough season under Brendan Rodgers as the Scottish giants conquered all before them north of the boarder. The 20-year-old would perhaps be one for the future but would certainly cost far less than others mentioned in the gossip columns with a £15m fee reported to be enough to convince the Glasgow club to do a deal.
