46% of stakes have been placed on the Leicester City winger moving to Spain
The Leicester City playmaker has left the Algeria squad to “formalise” a move away from the midlands, and punters believe he’s destined to ply his trade in Barcelona after tonight’s deadline..
Mahrez has been linked with various club in the Premier League, and even though Arsenal remain favourites to sign the Algerian, only 13% of money has been wagered on him joining Wenger’s team. Barcelona have been the most popular bet this morning for Mahrez’s next club, with just under 46% of stakes on the Spanish giants. The winger remains 5/1 to move to Spain with one bookmaker, but can be backed as short as evens with one bookie on Oddschecker.
Rather surprisingly 10% of punters believe Mahrez could head north and join Manchester United. Even though this is unlikely at 16/1, the odds have been cut by six different bookmakers.
The Foxes could be set to replace the Algerian international with Andros Townsend and one bookmaker has priced them at evens to sign the Palace winger.
Oddschecker spokesman, George Elek “These days transfer deals rarely get so far without fans knowing where the player is heading, but former PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez's destination remains unknown. Nearly half of punters think he is heading to Catalan giants Barcelona, so that 5/1 could look a huge price very shortly.”
