The Liverpool attacker has received the most bets since the start of the season in the POTY betting
Liverpool’s Sadio Mane has impressed Oddschecker punters the most with his performances so far this season with the Senegalese striker attracting the most bets to be crowned player of the year. The former Southampton man tops the scoring charts alongside Romelu Lukaku with three goals in as many games and has been a constant livewire for Jurgen Klopp’s men, particularly when helping demolish Arsenal 4-0 at Anfield before the international break.
As big as 25/1 before a ball was kicked, Mane is now as short as 6/1 joint-favourites with some firms and has attracted just shy of 18% of bets from Oddschecker users since August 11th.
Just behind Mane is Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba. The Frenchman has helped his side begin the season with three straight wins, notching two goals and one assist in the process. The arrival of Nemaja Matic has seen the 24-year-old thrive in the opening games and punters have latched on to his and Utd’s strong start with the midfielder receiving 16% of all bets on the market through Oddschecker.
Third on the punters’ list is Man City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne despite the 26-year-old failing to register a goal or assist in his side’s opening three fixtures. The Belgian has seen just under 12% of total bets, putting him ahead of the likes of the aforementioned Matic (7.5%), assist king Henrikh Mkyitaryan (7.2%) and Liverpool’s wantaway magician Phillipe Coutinho (3.2%).
