Paulo Dybala has drawn more than 50% of bets to be the top scorer in this year’s Champions League over the past week.
The Argentine’s scintillating early season form has seen bettors back him more than all other strikers combined. To put the surge in bets in perspective: over the past week, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have received just 17% of bets on the same market.
While most sites are offering Dybala at 25/1 to win the golden boot, you can still take the Juventus man at 33/1 with some, and with the odds that favourable it’s no surprise to see many taking a gamble on him as Juventus look set to go far in the tournament.
Other strikers that have received bets on this market in the buildup to the competition are PSG’s Edison Cavani and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.
Ronaldo still leads the way on the market all time, with over 30% total bets, but the recent surge on Dybala has been huge. Speculation has been rife on his future recently, and if he produces like many believe he will in the Champions League, these rumours will only continue.
