Punters tempted by favourable Celtic odds in old firm clash

On paper this weekend's Old Firm derby looks a mismatch, but many bookmakers have given favourable odds on Celtic

On paper this weekend's Old Firm derby between Celtic and Rangers appears to be an apparent mismatch, but many bookmakers have given favourable odds on Celtic despite them being expected to romp this tie.

Celtic have been priced at a rather modest 3/4 by some bookmakers, which has led to punters piling in on them to triumph over Rangers.

Perhaps the only reason Celtic are priced higher is due to it being an away game, but this hasn’t stopped a large influx of bets coming in on the Scottish champions.

A massive 81% of market bets have been on the Hoops, with two bets of over £300 placed and still one day to go.

The draw is the second most popular option, with Rangers bets accounting for only 8% of the market share.

Oddschecker spokesman George Elek had this to say: “This is one of those prices where punters seemingly can't believe their eyes. Rangers have struggled to find any kind of rhythm whilst Celtic are their usual imperious self. They have scored 8 goals in their last two away games, and it is no surprise to see them so popular in the betting.”
