It looks like a two-horse race for the title and both Manchester clubs are being heavily backed.
We’re getting into the meat of the Premier League season and it looks set to be a true two-horse race between the two Manchester clubs. They have matched each other blow for blow so far but it’s the blue side of the city that currently has the edge with bettors and bookies.
City were imperious in demolishing Crystal Palace 5-0 at the Etihad and currently sit top of the tree. Bookies have responded by making the Citizens odds-on for the first time and are currently 10/11. Bettors continue to back Pep Guardiola’s side, with 35% of the betting going on City in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile United had to dig in but ultimately ground out a 1-0 victory away at Southampton. The Red Devils are now comfortable second favourites and can be found at 11/4 for their first title in the post-Fergie era. Bettors however have been less than warm to the idea, with twice as many bets going on Chelsea since Saturday evening than United.
Alvaro Morata’s hat-trick saw the Blues to a comfortable win away at Stoke and are still well in the race after a horrendous start in defending their crown. You can get 6/1 on Chelsea becoming the first team to win back-to-back Premier League titles since Manchester United in 2008-09.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “United and City have had to play second fiddle in the last few years but we look set to have a proper Premier League title race and mouths are watering nationwide. Guardiola has an embarrassment of attacking riches at his disposal but Mourinho would love to put one over on his rival after all their battles in Spain.”
