Alan Stubbs has gone from 20/1 to 4/7 to take over at Oldham Athletic.
Alan Stubbs has today emerged as the favourite for the Oldham Athletic job. The ex-Everton defender was priced at 20/1 on Tuesday morning, but is now odds-on (4/7) to take over from John Sheridan. In the last hour we’ve seen 40% of all bets on the market come in for Stubbs, sparking the huge decrease in his price.
Stubbs guided Hibernian to a second place finish in the Scottish Championship, but missed out on promotion via the play-offs. Success came next season, as he helped the club win the 2015/16 Scottish Cup, the first time they'd done so since 1902. His fortunes were different at Rotherham United, where Stubbs only managed one win, and was sacked after just fourteen games in charge.
Interim manager Richie Wellens claimed a much-needed three-points on the weekend, but it looks as though this hasn’t been enough to put is name in the frame. Wellens has now drifted out to 20/1, having started the day at 8/1.
Oldham sit 23rd in League One and are 1/2 (best price) to be relegated this season. Could Alan Stubbs be the man to save them?
Oddschecker spokesman, George Elek: “Oldham have found a new lease of life on Saturday and will need this to continue if they are to defy their relegation odds. Alan Stubbs has something to prove after a disappointing spell at Rotherham, and is now strong favourite to take charge.”
