Villa have won four in a row and one Birmingham punter has lumped £200 on a title win
What a difference a month makes. Steve Bruce was under intense pressure at the start of September but the Villans have gone on a tear in the Championship, racking up four straight wins which now sees them knocking on the door of the Play-offs.
This has seen their price to win the Championship shrink massively. 30 days ago, you could have got 20/1 on a title win for the first time since 1981. Now it’s just 9/1 for Villa end the season as champions and it’s proving a popular bet. They are the second best backed team in the last 24 hours, behind Midlands rivals Wolves who remain the 2/1 favourites.
One Birmingham punter has really got behind their local side. They have put £200 down at 9/1, which would see the person win a cool £2000. It will be some celebration down Broad Street if that bet comes off!
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “Steve Bruce was on seriously thin ice but he looks to have turned Villa’s fortunes around. One of the Championship heavyweights, most fans in B6 will be expecting at least a crack at the Playoffs this season and money has been coming in fast for a title challenge. That Birmingham-based fan staking £200 certainly has some faith, whether it is justified or misguided remains to be seen!
