A quarter of bets this weekend have gone on Coventry to make an instant return to League One
It’s been 47 years since Coventry City finished in the top six of any division and bettors believe that the Sky Blues will break that streak in the best way possible, by lifting the League Two title.
Despite their off field problems, Mark Robins’ side are putting together a great run of form: Four straight wins at home and three on the bounce overall have seen City keep the pressure on at the top of the table.
They currently sit fourth, just three points behind leaders Notts County. A gritty 1-0 win over Crewe on Saturday has seen bettors start to see value in their odds to lift the title.
Always one of the shorter prices around the start of the season, City’s odds drifted slightly after a mini-slump, where they went out to 16/1 at the start of September. However, this unbeaten record currently has the Sky Blues at 10/1, making them fifth favourites behind County, Exeter, Mansfield and favourites Luton.
A quarter of all League Two winners bets since Saturday night have gone on Coventry, more than any other team. While it may be a tough ask to displace the 2/1 Hatters, Robins knows that his side has a great chance to make an instant return to the third tier and bring some much-needed joy to some of the most long-suffering supporters in the country.
Oddschecker Spokeman George Elek: “It is no surprise to see punters looking to sniff out some value in the League Two market, with short-priced favourites Luton only in 5th spot. Coventry have been a different outfit since Robins took the helm and given that they have conceded just six goals in 11 matches, quotes of 10/1 to win the league do look appealing.”
