How a monumental month for Harry Kane has influenced betting patterns.
The stats are looking strong for Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane:
• He scored a record-equalling 13 goals in September (only matched by Cristiano Ronaldo & Messi).
• He now has more hat-tricks in 2017 than the Ronaldo & Messi combined (6).
• He has scored more goals in 2017 than Cristiano Ronaldo, having played three less games.
• He has the best goals per game rate of all the top-scorers in Europe.

He’s priced at just 7/4 to be Premier League top goalscorer, having been 9/2 at the start of September. Just under a quarter of all bets on this market this month have been on the 24-year old to retain his Golden Boot. Many tip Kane to break Alan Shearer’s Premier League all-time goalscoring record of 260. Currently on 82, it would be hard to back against on current form.
It’s not just domestically that Kane is impressing. He sits at the summit of the Champions League top scorers this season with 5 goals in just 2 matches. Opening the season at 150/1 with one bookmaker, you can now back Harry Kane to be top Champions League goalscorer at just 9/2.
Interestingly, today we’ve seen 58% of all bets come in for Harry Kane to win Sports Personality of the Year. It would take a lot to overcome Anthony Joshua (1/2 favourite), but Kane has been shortened from 200/1 to just 40/1 with some bookmakers and could be an outside shout should Joshua suffer a surprise loss to Pulev later in the year.
In the shorter-term, you can take a best price of 27/10 for Kane to score first against Slovenia on Thursday for England. The next step would be impressing on the world stage. Funnily enough, there is a tournament this summer…
Oddschecker spokeman George Elek: “August & September saw massively contrasting fortunes for Harry Kane. Punters and bookies alike have taken notice and shortened his odds for just about anything goals-related.”
