Bradford backed to win League One following latest win

Four wins in last five have lifted Stuart McCall’s men to third in the table

Bradford City have been backed to make a return to the English second tier as champions after punters were impressed by the manor of their 4-1 victory away to MK Dons at the weekend. The victory saw the Bantams move to third in the table, five points clear of Rotherham in fourth and just two points outside of the automatic places.

Their latest victory was their eighth of the season and it appears punters are convinced they have what it takes to maintain their impressive early-season form and win League One.

Since the final whistle on Saturday, only second-placed Wigan Athletic come close in terms of bets placed on the League Two winner market with Bradford out ahead with 38% compared to the Latics in second with 32%.

Initially priced up at around the 14/1 mark, some bookmakers have had them as short as 6/1 as the season has unfolded with the best price now 9/1. They are also as short as 15/8 in the promotion market having been 5/1 earlier in the season.

Both Bradford and Wigan have been popular in the market since the start of the season with another former Premier League club Blackburn Rovers completing the top three most common bets since the opening day.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: "Bradford have long been consistent performers at League One level and only missed out on promotion last season to a late Millwall winner in the play-off final at Wembley. Stuart McCall's team beat the in-form MK Dons away on Saturday in a win which has really confirmed them as title contenders, so punters are more than happy to back them at the shortened price"
