Reality starting to set in for Terriers with dream start now a distant memory
Saturday’s 2-0 defeat away to Swansea means Huddersfield have now gone six games without a win in the Premier League and with games against Manchester Utd and Liverpool up next for David Wagner’s men, Oddschecker punters are starting to fear the worst for the Terriers.
Although the club still sit four points clear of the bottom three, a win for Leicester in Monday night’s game could see that cut to just one point.
Odds-on favourites with bookmakers before a ball was kicked, Town had seen their odds drift to as big as 6/4 following an impressive start that yielded seven points from their opening three games. However, a run of just two points from their next six has seen their odds trimmed back into 8/11 with some firms.
Punters were quick to react following the Terriers’ latest defeat and over 40% of bets placed on the relegation market since the full-time whistle have been on Huddersfield, well clear of Crystal Palace on 18% and Leicester on 8%.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: "Crystal Palace's unlikely win against Chelsea has blown the relegation race wide open, and the Terriers do look vulnerable after a poor run of form. Some initial good form saw them drift to an attractive price, which has proven very popular indeed."
