Watford fancied to finish in the European places

The Hornets currently sit in fourth position in the league having lost just one game.

There was late drama at Vicarage Road on Saturday evening as Arsenal threw away a 1-0 lead in the final 20 minutes of the match. Troy Deeney converted from the spot whilst Tom Cleverly was left unmarked in the box to smash rebound into the roof of the net in the dying minutes.

Watford now reside in the top four after eight games, two points ahead of the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. They have lost just once so far and that was to a rampant Man City.

Marco Silva has turned the Hornets into a well-drilled and efficient side and they have now racked up 38% of their points total from the whole of their last campaign. This all means punters have begun to believe that Watford can mount a serious challenge for the European places this year.

48.6 % of all bets this weekend were on Silva’s side to finish in the top six. One bookmaker cut their odds to as little as 10/1 today, whereas some are holding firm at 20/1+. 28/1 is still available at the time of writing.

Another side who we have seen bets for to finish in the top six is Burnley. The Clarets are the second most backed team behind Watford with 26.4% of bets. Despite already having travelled to Anfield, Stamford Bridge and Wembley and not lost at, bookies don’t give them much hope and Sean Dyche’s team are 150/1 shots.

Oddschecker spokesman, George Elek 'Watford and Burnley were two teams who were widely tipped for relegation but are no attracting unlikely money for a European berth. Both Marco Silva and Sean Dyche continue to impress, and are priced up as 16/1 and 33/1 respectively to replace under-fire Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.'
