Slaven Bilic odds-on to be next manager to leave

Slaven Bilic odds-on to be next manager to leave

Nearly two thirds of bets on the market since Friday night have been on the West Ham manager.

Friday night football could not have gone much worse for West Ham as they were downed 3-0 in their own back yard by newly promoted Brighton. In what is now their worst start to a season since 2010, the result leaves the East London club one position above the relegation zone and the board and owners contemplating the future of manager Slaven Bilic.

Since the match at the Olympic Stadium, 63.6% of bets on the ‘Next Manager To Leave Post’ market have been the 49-year-old Croatian. He started the Friday at 10/1 but as the game unfolded his odds soon plummeted and he is now best priced 4/9 to be the next coach out of a job. Reports suggest a decision on his position is imminent.

The second most backed in the same time frame is Antonio Conte with 13.5% of bets. It’s been a poor start to the season from the Champions, who have already lost three games and when they were 2-1 down to Watford many thought his time could be up. He was cut to as short as 4/1 but the Blues rallied to win 4-2 and his odds have since been pushed back out to 20/1.

Ronald Koeman is a man under severe pressure and his Everton side welcome Arsenal to Goodison on Sunday. The Dutchman has been the favourite in the market for a while but the feeling is that the Everton hierarchy would have acted by now were they planning on cutting ties with the ex-Southampton boss. A heavy defeat to the Gunners tomorrow however would see the 7/2 on offer disappear rapidly.
