Wilfried Zaha rescued a point for Palace on Saturday and half of bets placed this weekend gone on the Eagles to stay up
At half-time on Saturday, Crystal Palace looked down and out. 2-0 down at home to West Ham, things looked bleak for the Eagles. But an impressive fightback capped off with a stoppage-time equaliser from Wilfried Zaha rescued the unlikeliest of points and breathed new life into Palace’s battle against relegation.
Palace are still odds-against for the drop, but punters have been quick to back Roy Hodgson’s side staying above the dotted line at the end of the season. Half of all bets placed have gone on the South Londoners, who are a best price of 7/4 to stay up.
The only other team to be odds-against are Swansea City. The South Wales outfit put in a spirited performance against Arsenal but lost 2-1 and pressure is mounting on Paul Clement. They can be found at 11/10 to stay up, but only 10% of punters have backed the Swans this weekend, suggesting that it might be a long season for the Whites.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “Wilfried Zaha may well have ignited a spark in Crystal Palace, who showed bags of character in getting a point after being 2-0 down at half-time against West Ham. Punters must have liked what they saw, as they are more than happy to take the 7/4 price available, which is a big price for any team considering it is only October!”
