Bookies have been slashing the odds for the Irish centre back to take over the reins at Championship strugglers Sunderland. O’Shea’s odds have been slowly coming in since Simon Grayson was sacked on Tuesday night following another disappointing home performance.
Oddschecker spokesman, George Elek "In the space of 20 minutes from 1:30pm on Thursday, O’Shea’s odds have been cut from 14/1 to as short as 2/1 due a huge influx of bets on the market with a total of 68% on the current club captain. That figure is well clear of the next most popular Phil Brown with 23%."
Before the betting spree, Brown was dominating the market with 65% of stakes being before midday.
