So far it’s been very much a season of two halves for Dean Smith’s Brentford. After going without a win in their first eight games, they beat Bolton at the end of September and they haven’t lost in the league since, shooting up the table and picking up plaudits in the process.
Saturday night’s win against Leeds in front of the Sky cameras put the Bees just four points outside the Play-offs and with plenty of momentum heading into the busy Winter period. Punters feel like they can keep it going and flurry of bets have come in over the weekend for the Griffin Park side.
Since Friday night, a third of bets placed on the Championship promotion market have been on Brentford, more than any other team. They are generally floating around 8/1 but you can still get a best price of 20/1 on the West Londoners reaching the top division for the first time since the 1940’s.
The favourites for promotion are very much still Wolverhampton Wanderers, who made short work of Fulham at Molineux this weekend. You can get 8/11 on them going up, with some firms going as short as 1/7.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “We’ve seen teams in the Championship streak their way to a top six finish before and Brentford are currently winning for fun as they look to have turned the corner following their poor start to the season. The Bees have form in making the Playoffs (they did it in their first season back in the Championship and punters are confident that they will be in the mix come the end of the season.”
