Chris Coleman’s Wales future looks very uncertain with talks ongoing with the Welsh FA, causing speculation around his future.
The Welsh manager admitted following the disappointing result to Panama on Tuesday that there’s a possibility the 1-1 draw will be his last game in charge of the national team. Even though Coleman remains a fan favourite, plenty of the Welsh public have called for change following Wales’ failure to qualify for the World Cup.
It’s rumoured the 47-year-old will be told his future tomorrow, but betting suggests today that the Welsh FA have already made up their mind. This morning alone, 70% of all money placed in the next Sunderland manager market has been on the former Fulham manager. The surge in bets has caused his odds to be cut from 25/1 to as short as 5/4 with one bookie.
Coleman has also been cut for the Everton job, he’s now as short as 12/1 with one bookie. However, there doesn’t appear to be the same amount of support for him compared to the Black Cats job.
Oddschecker spokesman, George Elek "Coleman's managerial stock has certainly risen since ill-fated spells at Fulham, Real Sociedad, Coventry and Greek side AEL, and punters think he could soon me making a return to club football. Given Wales' dependence on Gareth Bale over the past couple of years, Sunderland will be hoping he can get the best out of their mis-firing squad should he get the job."
