Carl Robinson’s odds are shortening for the top job following betting spree
It can’t be argued that Carl Robinson was an experienced campaigner on the pitch, with clubs like Wolves, Sunderland and Portsmouth all on his CV, but his managerial credentials are perhaps less established. Robinson currently manages Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS where he managed to steer the club to the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Champions league in 2016-17, and a third place finish in the Western Conference.
The former-midfielder was capped 52 times by Wales, retiring back in 2009 after Wales suffered back-to-back defeats, meaning it was impossible to qualify for the 2010 World Cup. Despite a relative lack of managerial experience, Robinson has accounted for 58% of bets in the next Wales manager market in the last 24 hours.
Oddschecker spokesman George Elek: “Earlier this week the Welshman was a 20/1 shot for the job, but has since been backed into as short as 10/1 with five different bookies. However, one bookie is still offering 16/1. Robinson remains fourth favourite in the market behind Pulis, Bellamy and Ryan Giggs”
