David Silva backed in for PFA Player of the Year

The Spaniard has been in magnificent form in over the last couple of weeks and the markets have reacted.

David Silva has been a linchpin and creative force in the Man City midfield this season, cementing his place as one of the all-time greats at the club, and has been a big reason why they're so far unbeaten in the Premier League

He's taken that up a notch in recent weeks though, scoring and creating a number of vital goals for the Citizens in the league. He's now scored 4 goals in 3 matches following his double against Swansea last night having scored the winner against West Ham and opening the scoring in the Manchester derby.

Silva's midfield partner at City, Kevin De Bruyne, is still the heavy 8/13 favourite for the PFA Player of the Year award and the Belgian has been odds-on since late October following a string of impressive performances.

The 31 year-old is now hot on his heels though, with 89.4% of bets placed on him in the market over the last week, causing his odds to fall dramatically from 14/1 to 13/2.

Silva is now the third favourite, behind his Belgian team mate and Mohamed Salah who is the Premier League's top scorer and available at 11/2.

Market Leaders::

Kevin De Bruyne - 8/13

Mohamed Salah - 11/2

Oddschecker spokesperson, George Elek: "Many City fans will tell you that they've never seen better than Silva, and his latest flurry of goals has seen him rival teammate De Bruyne for the end of season prize. That looks like just about the tightest race in the Premier League, with the the title surely sewn up for Guardiola's team before Christmas."
