Punters convinced Man City can win the quadruple

Punters convinced Man City can win the quadruple

Pep's team are the most backed club in every competition.

Manchester City survived a penalty shootout at the King Power last night to progress to the semi-finals of the League Cup, meaning Pep’s men are still competing on all four fronts this season.

When questioned on the subject of the quadruple in his post-match interview, Guardiola refused to get ahead of himself, claiming ‘it is not going to happen’. However, punters have seen enough to disagree with the Spaniard.

Since last night, 43.1% of all bets on the Citizen’s trophy haul have been on the quadruple at 40/1. What’s more, since the end of August, Man City are the most backed team through Oddschecker for every single competition. They are also the bookies favourite all four.

In the Champions League, City have received 15.44% of bets and gone from 12/1 to 16/5, sitting just above PSG on the grids. The Parisiens have only been slightly less supported, receiving 14.9% of bets.

Sitting 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League, the table toppers have gone from 7/4 to 1/33, receiving almost exactly a third (33.27%) of all bets in the process. The red side of Manchester are the next most backed with 22.11%.

Despite drawing Premier League Burnley in the FA Cup, City remain top of the market at 5/1. 16.65% of bets have been on them to lift the famous trophy at Wembley in May. Surprisingly, it’s Watford and Leicester who are the most popular with punters after that, with 14.1% and 8.8% respectively.

Finally, in the EFL Cup, the Citizens are by far and away the most backed. They account for 33.4% of bets since August and are now as short as 5/4 to win their first trophy in February.

City have still only lost one game all season - a meaningless Champions League group game - and can still add to their record-breaking 15-match win streak in the Premier League.

Oddschecker spokesman, George Elek: 'Guardiola's side have drawn comparisons with some of the greatest teams in recent history, but are yet to win the trophies to cement their place in that list. Punters think it is just a matter of time though, with Man City trading as favourites in an unprecedented four major competitions'
