The Blues are heavy favourites to secure the signature of West Ham's big number nine
Andy Carroll is being backed to make a sensational switch to Stamford Bridge, following a surge of bets on the West Ham striker’s next destination.
Reports suggesting current back-up striker Michy Batshuayi is set for a move to Sevilla have resulted in a substantial amount of interest in Carroll, both from Chelsea and from punters.
In fact, the ex-Newcastle target man has attracted 34% of all bets in the last 24 hours, with his price plummeting from 8/1 into as short as 1/3 as of today (January 17).
Apart from Antonio Conte’s side, Everton and Newcastle are also rumoured to be in the hunt for Carroll, although they remain outside shots to sign the former Liverpool man.
The England international is 2/1 to stay with West Ham beyond the January transfer window, with the third most likely destination being Goodison Park with Everton 20/1 longshots.
A return to his old stomping ground at St James’ Park is priced up at 25/1 as it appears Chelsea are the clear front runners for his signature.
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Loic Remy, Radamel Falcao, Michy Batshuayi, Andy Carroll? In recent years Chelsea have needed a striker in their squad to play second fiddle to the main man, and it looks like the former Liverpool man may be the next in line. The good news is that you don't necessarily have to be fit to sit on a bench."
