Walcott scores twice as Everton beat Leicester and becomes just 11/4 to go to Russia with England
Theo Walcott said that he needed a ‘Fresh start’ after joining Everton and it looks like the move could do his England chances the world of good as his odds are slashed to be in Gareth Southgate’s final 23 in the Summer.
After Everton beat Leicester 2-1 thanks to a Walcott double, the 28-year old’s odds have gone from 8/1 this morning down to 11/4 in places. However, you can still get odds of 9/2 for Walcott to appear at a World Cup for the first time since his sensational inclusion in Sven Goran-Eriksson’s 2006 squad as a 16-year old.
Walcott has enjoyed a fruitful start to life at Goodison Park and teammates Wayne Rooney and Jordan Pickford continue to feature in the betting, though the latter looks much more likely than the former to appear in Russia.
Oddschecker Spokesman George Elek: “Theo Walcott has impressed since moving to Everton in January and now has his sights set on playing himself into contention for Gareth Southgate’s World Cup squad. With his odds getting slashed after a fine performance against Leicester, there’s every chance that Walcott can appear at a World Cup for the first time since 2006.”
